AIADMK Stages Hunger Strike, Demands CBI Probe and Chief Minister Stalin's Resignation Over TN Hooch Tragedy

In a significant political move, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has initiated a hunger strike, intensifying their demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the recent hooch tragedy in Tamil Nadu. The opposition party has also called for the resignation of Chief Minister MK Stalin, holding him accountable for the incident that has resulted in multiple fatalities and hospitalizations across the state.

The hooch tragedy, which occurred last week, has sent shockwaves throughout Tamil Nadu, with reports indicating that several people have died after consuming illicitly brewed alcohol. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern over the effectiveness of state regulations in curbing the illegal production and distribution of toxic liquor.

Leading the charge, AIADMK leaders have accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government of gross negligence and failure to enforce stringent measures against the illicit liquor trade. Speaking at the hunger strike, AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam stated, "The DMK government has failed to protect the lives of its citizens. We demand an immediate CBI investigation to ensure an impartial probe into this tragedy and the resignation of Chief Minister MK Stalin, who must take moral responsibility for this catastrophe."

The hunger strike, which has drawn a significant number of AIADMK supporters and senior party members, is being held in Chennai. Protesters, holding placards and chanting slogans, have vowed to continue their demonstration until their demands are met. The party has also called for statewide protests, urging the public to join in their demand for justice and accountability.

In response to the AIADMK's actions, the DMK government has reiterated its commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the tragedy. Chief Minister MK Stalin, addressing the media, stated, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to this unfortunate incident. The state police and other relevant authorities are already conducting a detailed investigation. We assure the public that those responsible will be brought to justice."

However, the AIADMK remains unsatisfied with the state-led probe, arguing that only an independent investigation by the CBI can uncover the truth and ensure that justice is served. The party has also criticized the DMK's handling of the crisis, highlighting previous instances of hooch tragedies under the current administration's tenure.

As the political tension escalates, the people of Tamil Nadu await a resolution that addresses the root causes of the hooch tragedy and prevents future occurrences. The call for a CBI probe and the Chief Minister's resignation has added a new dimension to the state's political landscape, setting the stage for a heated debate on governance, accountability, and public safety.

The AIADMK's hunger strike marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing discourse surrounding the hooch tragedy, reflecting the deep-seated frustrations and demands for change among the affected communities. Whether the government will accede to the demands remains to be seen, but the pressure from the opposition and the public is unlikely to dissipate anytime soon.
